Live on the Lawn – El Rollo @ Berninneit, Cowes

Berninneit is proud to host weekly Live on the Lawn sessions.

Summer on Phillip Island is all about long afternoons, sea breezes and great music – and this January, we’re bringing all of that to the front lawn of Berninneit!

Pack a picnic, roll out a rug, settle in with friends or family and enjoy four weekends of live local talent under the summer sky.

Every Saturday in January 2026 at the Berninneit Outdoor Stage

Set 1 goes from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM, while Set 2 goes from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM

These are free events, with no bookings required.

Whether you’re a local, a visitor or just passing through Bass Coast for the holidays, Live on the Lawn is an easygoing, free-spirited way to spend a summer afternoon.

January 3 – El Rollo

puts surf music through the blender, turns up the heat and serves up a scorching guitar soaked take(with a slight twist of swamp and psychedelia) on one of rock’s most loveable genres.

January 10 – Karavana Flamenca

Since forming over a decade ago Karavana Flamenca has performed at major Festivals and events including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Canberra National Folk Festival Cygnet Folk Festival and as acclaimed support for international giants the “Gipsy Kings” on their last Australian tour.

Karavana Flamenca plays rumba flamenco (gypsy rumba) with virtuosity and authenticity rarely seen outside of Spain. This flamenco palo fuses the rhythms of Afro-Cuba with traditional flamenco melodies. Duelling flamenco guitars, percussion drive the rhythm, Spanish/Romani vocals sing the haunting tunes. Rumba flamenca acts as a springboard for original songs where the outstanding musical talent and diverse cultural backgrounds (Spanish, Romany, SouthAmerican, Turkish and Australian) of the band members are shown.

January 17 – Maddy May

Maddy May is an emerging independent Australian indie-folk artist from Phillip Island, Victoria. Maddy has recorded and produced her own music, as well as collaborating with other artists such as Riley Pearce and Billy Otto to create some magic co-releases. Her delicate vocals and thoughtful songwriting are captivating. She has a genuine stage presence. She will make you laugh and cry all at once.

January 24 – Todd Cook & the Rufous Whistlers

Todd’s emotive lyrics, earthy tones and raw appeal connect to a wide variety of listeners. His songs float from intricate folk finger picking styles to driving rhythms that stir the soul. His stories of Australian landscapes and people are accompanied by mesmerising instrumentation and a depth that constantly engages and entertains.

Todd Cook has five studio releases; ‘So Long’ (2008), ‘Hunting Ground’ (2010),Brilliant Green(2012), The Silent Boat (2018) and Salt of the Earth (2022). Drawing inspiration from both the lush green fields of Gippsland where he grew up, and the rich, remote areas of the Northern Territory and recently the ancient streets of Edinburgh. Each song reveals a meeting place for sounds, techniques and lyrics that connect north to south, remote to mainstream, and traditional to contemporary. His music takes the audience on a journey from dark turbulent songs, witnessed first-hand when Todd was living in a remote Northern Territory community, to lively acoustics of joy and celebration.
